The proposed new dwelling is located at the southern end of the plot occupied by 1 Clairview Road, in the Streatham Park Conservation Area. To the south boundary, the residential neighbour on Thrale Road is locally listed.

The site is constrained in terms of footprint and the Local Planning Authority’s requirement to create a dwelling which appears as an outbuilding to the main house.

The house has been set back from the edge of the site to create a private garden facing onto the road. The open plan living-kitchen-dining area is at ground level,
with access to a secluded courtyard garden to the rear. Two bedrooms in the basement storey each have access onto a shared lightwell.

The elevational treatment of the proposed house provides a contemporary contrast to its more ornate neighbours.
